I love the look on Benji's face! "Mom, honestly! Another picture! Come on! We're tryin' to relax here!" Lol! And though it looks like Benji is choking Emma, he isn't. They were just laying comfortably together and he layed his arm across her. They really don't lay together like this too much. Seriously, I know I said that before, and I swear this was after I said that and here they are trying to prove me wrong! I think Emma feels more the mother to him, because she took care of him and bathed him and his siblings when they came to us at about 5 or 6 weeks of age. They do occasionally chase and ruff-house with each other. Emma loves her Benji Boo!

Oh how cute love how they lay like that. Mine won't even lay on the same couch! I like the new site. On my mom's puter the print is really small. I have to post on venters!

Hey Kat, I see you have Lane Bryant promotion codes. Don't suppose you can get promotion codes for Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, or Ann Taylor Loft? I'm serious, these are my favorite stores and I shop from them all the time. A coupon would be AWESOME because they're so dogone expensive!!!

Cuddling kitties - my favorite! I love it when kitties are so sweet to each other (hear that Grr?). Emma looks just like a kitten I met at the shelter yesterday, except that the kitten had extra long fur and was only 2 1/2 months old. Other than that, same markings. Every time someone came in, I pulled her out and said "Do you want to see the cutest face EVER?"

What's sad is that there are more doggie volunteers than kitty volunteers. Sure, I'm glad people come to help bathe and care for the doggies, but every time I've been there, I'm the only person in the kitty room. I stay for 5 hours straight with no breaks for anything. If no one was in there, not only would the kitties be alone and bored, but potential adopters wouldn't even be able to get to meet the kitties unless they took the trouble to track down an employee to come open the cages. I get to know all the kitties as well as I can, and then ask the people who come in what kind of kitty they're interested in, then I introduce them to the ones that might fit their situation. I got one adorable little black over-active kitten adopted yesterday to a purrfect household for her. Then there was a college aged girl who came in with her friend and she fell in love with another kitten, but said she'd have to have her mom approve. Her friend had a camera, so we got some great poses of the girl holding the kitten (in front of the cages, for the extra sympathy effects) and of the kitten licking her face. I bet that mother won't be able to resist! One really hard to place male cat who plays a little too rough (without meaning to) made friends with a nice guy who came in looking for a grown male cat. This kitty (Socks - looks very similar to Emma) was rolling around and showing off for him, being more friendly than I've ever seen him be. I made sure to tell the man that he must be the "chosen person" for this kitty, as Socks was going all out with cuteness. Hopefully the man will show up today to adopt him - that was his intention.

OK Karen, not to sound cheesey or gay but, I LOVE YOU!!!! You are so wonderful and you are doing a FANTASTIC job! I wish there were people to help with the kitties but I know that GOD chose the right person to be in there! And eventually, he'll chose another to come in and help. Dogs get adopted because everyone "loves" dogs. Special people adopt cats! So it takes a special person who is dedicated to getting to know the personality traits of the cats, because they sincerely want to see the cat go home with the right family! You're doing such a wonderful thing! Please keep your chin up!

Thank you Kim. I'd do anything for the fuzzies. Also, for people with newspaper to throw away or old towels you no longer want, the animal shelters are always in need of donations. I like to buy a few extra little kitty toys when I go to the pet store and take those over too. My last bag of toys all went to the kitties in the observation room (sick kitties), except for 1 fuzzy red mouse. The kitties in the adoption room had to take turns with the fuzzy red mouse, but they were really glad to have it. It makes them more adoptable too, if they have toys. The people see happy kitties playing and are more inclined to notice them.

Karen, you are the greatest. Could you help me find a shelter in my area like yours? Are they part of a central unit or independent?

When I was in Petsmart (and that may be where I go to volunteer), I started playing with the kitties and got a girl to just make the decision to take the two black twins (brothers).

She only wanted one more cat, had one at home. It was obvious she loved those Grr-type kitties, they were adorable.

It really wasn't hard to do, the real volunteer was up front reading a magazine, watching me thru the glass. Basically, her mind was made up, she just needed a slight nudge. I her about the Maneko Neko and how the cat should pick you; I explained the symbology behind a cats colors. The black cat in Asia and most cultures is extremely lucky, protection against evil, etc. To have one seek you out is considered a blessing. And she had two of them want her.

I told her she was double lucky. She said yes, she had twins at home. I said, see it's a done deal.

Meaning she had twin boys -- human -- at home. Told her each son could have a lucky cat. That was all it took.
