Marley's a Good Boy

Marley over the years has done a number on my couch! Now, I will say Emma contributed for a short bit, but it really was just a short bit of time! And I guess it was a year or two ago, that he finally decided he was not going to scratch up my couch anymore! For a short while, he decided the carpet was the way to go, and then stopped that as well. Then, I guess last year or maybe it was the beginning of this year, I discovered the cardboard scratchy things. I have this ramp one, a turbo scratcher and a couple of the rectangular cardboard scratchy things. Marley loves them and now always goes to them for scratching! Emma is the only one who isn't thrilled with them. She will however, on occasion scratch them! Guess it's time to purchase new furniture now! Thinking about slip covers until the kids are out of the house though! ;)

My goodness Mr. Marley! You really DID do a number on the couch! But I have to agree with your Momma, slip covers for at least the next five years or so. Having three young kids myself, I sometimes wonder how wise it was to buy new furniture for our living room and den! Kat, if you do get new furniture, just remember this, Resolve Spot Magic does wonders! ALSO, the Microsuede couches clean really well and dry really fast!!!!
LOL!

What a GOOD BOY you are, Marley! Now, would you like to come teach Flumpy and Meepsie about scratchers? Meepsie is working on some Bed Art, and Flumpy has 2 Works in Progress.

my girls love the cardboard scatching posts. kimiko really loves the sisal rope covered posts. all of my boys (gosh how i miss them) used my cardboard and sisal posts with such zeal and dedication i would have to replace the cardboard ones every 4 months and the sisal lasted about a year. well worth the money spent as the boys had very long claws.

will try to check back in later. take care all!

No, no, no, Kat. You are looking at this all wrong!!!

Fact is, it's ART. Yes, Marley is an artist! And a very expressive one at that.

Check out Grr's Artwork, showing what an accomplished artist she is becoming. From her blog, you can check out links to other aspiring cat artists. It's like there is a whole colony of them out there. Or in here, as the case may be!

George from Crew's Views shows us his furniture art. But he hasn't limited himself to one form of expression. Check out his links to his other artistic formats.

Perhaps Marley has other objects de art around your home? You could feature a gallery of his works, for all the other cats to admire and emulate.

Oh my Marley! Good thing you found the scratcher! BTW that is Abby's favorite thing. I have three of those throughout the house. I also have another "home-made" scratching post and one very small post and then there are the cat condos...well my house sounds like a cat house, doesn't it? :-)

That is good art. We did art on the beans old bed, but when they got a new one they kept yelling at us not to do art on it.

It just has something going for it ;)

I am NOT a good boy when it comes to the scratching. I do it everywhere - on the couch (the one I pee on sometimes), my Person's bed, and sometimes on those squishy sacks she carries around. I have to stop, though, because it just leads to more pawdicures, and I HATE PAWDICURES.

I must say, I'm impressed, Marley. That's a very worthy furniture art project and it's nice to see you've moved on to other pieces too. Keep up the good work!
